Delve into a tour that will take you to discover the oldest city in the American Pacific: The Ruins of Panama Viejo, founded by the Spanish as a starting point to conquer Ecuador and Peru. The Museum in the ruins is a storyteller of the splendor of the city where you will appreciate surprising archaeological finds. Climb the bell tower located in the Plaza Mayor to see the dramatic contrast between history and progress.
We will take you to Casco Antiguo, founded after the pirate Morgan burned the Old Panama in his insatiable search for pre-Columbian gold. Its architecture is a combination of French and Spanish construction that, to a large extent, has been restored evoking the beauty of those days. The Walk through the Vaults will take you to the Plaza de Francia where we will tell you the history of the Panama Canal.
The Plaza de la Catedral is another unmissable icon and when you visit the Hotel La Compan?i?a you will see how the mixture of the classic design of the building with the modernity of the current architecture makes the Old Town an unforgettable place. If it is open, we will enter the Teatro Nacional. This will be a walking tour that you will enjoy and feel transported to the beginning of the 20th century. Both historic cities have been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
And as if that were not enough, we will take you to discover the eighth wonder of the world: the Panama Canal. The construction of this jewel of world engineering began in the early 1900s and was inaugurated in 1914. We will go to the Miraflores Visitors Center, where you will appreciate the Canal in operation. The interval between ships is very short so you may see one or more ships going through the huge locks.
