ITINERARY
Leave Barcelona aboard one of our comfortable buses to Montserrat. Together with your guide, you will have two options to get to the center of Montserrat, by rack railway or with the Cable Car - Aeri. With both options you will enjoy impressive views. World famous for its rocky landscape, Montserrat Mountain was declared a National Park in 1987 to protect its cultural and natural heritage.
Follow your local guide and discover the history of the Monastery, as well as its architectural style. Fall in love with the fusion of Gothic and Renaissance styles in its basilica and sanctuary. Discover that the importance of the place is due to the legend that tells of the miraculous appearance of a representation of the Virgin with the child Jesus in one of the mountain caves, the Santa Cova. Visit this wooden carving, kept today in the monastery Church. The figure is popularly known as La Moreneta due to a reaction of the varnish over time, which has darkened it.
Montserrat is closely linked to spirituality. Today a community of 80 monks inhabit the place following the rule of Saint Benedict. For this reason, in addition to the main monastery, the mountain is home to a large number of churches and hermitages, some already abandoned. Your guided tour includes riding the rack railway, tasting excellent typical liquors, visiting the Audiovisual Space and access to Moreneta. After the guided tour you will have free time to admire the fabulous landscape and visit the market for agricultural and typical products of the area.
