Dare to live one of the most colorful and enriching tours in Mexico City! This immersive experience weaves together art, history, and tradition, taking travelers through the iconic Frida Kahlo Museum, the majestic murals of UNAM, the colonial charm of Coyoacán, and the vibrant canals of Xochimilco-known as the 'Place of Flowers.'
The journey begins in Coyoacán, whose name in Nahuatl means 'place of coyotes.' A local guide shares the origins and cultural significance of this historic neighborhood, once home to artists, revolutionaries, and intellectuals. Time is provided to stroll its cobblestone streets and, for those who wish, enjoy a light breakfast (not included).
For those who CHOOSE the museum option, the next stop is the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as La Casa Azul. This cobalt-blue house, where Frida was born and later passed away, offers a deeply personal look into her life and work. The museum features her artwork, folk art, pre-Hispanic artifacts, and personal belongings that reflect her unique vision and enduring legacy.
The tour continues to Ciudad Universitaria, the main campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the campus is home to over 110 murals, including masterpieces by Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros. The guide provides insight into the symbolism and historical context of these monumental works.
Next, the experience heads to Xochimilco, one of Frida’s favorite places and a living remnant of ancient Mexico. Upon arrival, a stop is made at a local restaurant to enjoy a traditional Mexican lunch-included only for those who selected the lunch option. The day concludes with a ride on a trajinera, a colorful, gondola-style boat that glides through Xochimilco’s ancient canals. Surrounded by floating gardens, festive music, and vibrant scenery, this final activity offers a joyful celebration of Mexico’s living heritage.
If you want to visit Frida Kahlo Museum, you must CHOOSE the option. If you do not do so, you will not be able to visit it.
Please take into account at the time of booking that the Frida Kahlo Museum is closed on Mondays.
