Enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Monastery of El Escorial, an architectural complex declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Built in the 15th century, it is a symbol of the power of the government at that time. Learn all the details of the Royal Mausoleum it contains and the history behind the 21 years it took to build. In the Renaissance style, the building's symmetry will amaze you. Listen to your guide's explanations as you walk around the site, visiting the Habsburg Palace, the Chapter House, the Basilica, and the extraordinary library.
Reboard the bus for a short journey to the next destination. The Valley of the Fallen is located 9 km from El Escorial, in the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains. You will be able to see it from afar thanks to the monumental cross erected on the site. The monument is an underground basilica built into the mountain. It is crowned by the largest cross in the world, visible for miles around.
In the afternoon, we will discover Segovia, a small city that will surprise us from the moment we step off the bus.
Those who have chosen the option to enjoy Segovia at their own pace will be informed by the guide of the meeting point and the exact return time to Madrid, so they can plan their time with complete ease. This option includes entrance to the Cathedral, allowing them to visit it independently during their stay in Segovia.
Those with a guided tour will begin with a walking tour of the imposing Aqueduct of Segovia, one of the best-preserved Roman engineering works in the world, over 2,000 years old. They will discover how it was built without cement and the path the water took to reach the heart of the city.
From there, we'll ascend to the Plaza Mayor, enjoying the charm of historic streets and emblematic monuments such as the Casa de los Picos, with its 617 granite peaks, and the Plaza Medina del Campo, where you'll find the Church of San Martín, built in 1117, and the Torreón de Lozoya, which you can climb in your free time for breathtaking views of Segovia.
Once we reach the Plaza Mayor, we'll encounter several impressive monuments, including the Segovia City Hall, the Juan Bravo Theatre, and the Segovia Cathedral.
The tour continues to the Alcázar of Segovia, one of the most famous and best-preserved medieval castles in the world. The Alcázar might remind you of some Disney castles, as its exterior architecture served as inspiration for several Walt Disney films, such as Cinderella's Castle and the Queen's Castle in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
This tour is not recommended for people with walking difficulties or reduced mobility, as the interior of the monument has a large number of stairs and full accessibility cannot be guaranteed due to its architectural features.
The tour duration may be extended by up to half an hour, depending on the group size.
