On Friday, October 13, 1972, a Fairchild 227 plane with 45 people on board crashes in the Andes. Thus begins one of the most incredible survival stories of mankind.
The Uruguayan group of young Rugby players, their friends and families, was forced to undertake a titanic battle against adversity.
The museum is dedicated to the 45 people who were on board that October 1972 flight and especially to those 29 who did not return. It also pretends to be a tribute to the 16 compatriots who "came back to life", after 72 long and hellish days of hunger, pain, suffering, despair ... and hope for a tomorrow.
Special and deserved highlight is given to the figure of the arriero Sergio Catalán for his noble and selfless attitude.
The visit to the Andes Museum is from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 17:00hs and Saturdays from 10:00hs. to 15:00hs. Excluding holidays: 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. It lasts 1 hour.
Passengers must arrive at Bar Facal at 12:00. You can walk from one place to the other, both are located in the dowtown. You can do both on the same day or on two different days.
