Description

First stop: the historic Old Town (Ciudad Vieja), with colonial buildings and the Spanish fortifications of the San Felipe y Santiago city and the Ciudadela. See the Solis Theatre, the Cabildo, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Museo Torres Garcia.
At Plaza Independencia you will see the statue and Mausoleum of General Artigas, the Presidential offices, Palacio Estevez, Palacio Salvo and the Ciudadela Gate, followed by the neoclassical Parliament Palace, inaugurated in 1925.
A scenic ride takes you to Mercado Agricola Montevideo (MAM), an iron-built market that began as a fruit and vegetable stand in 1913 and was refurbished in 2006.
Next is the Obelisco De Los Constituyentes, inaugurated in 1938 as a tribute to the writers of the first constitution of 1830, by Jose Luis Zorrilla de San Martin.
