Next, visit the Leymebamba Museum, where you'll find a fascinating collection of mummies and artifacts, revealing the secrets of the Chachapoya civilization. It's a cultural and archaeological immersion.
ITINERARY
Start 8:00 am, From Chachapoyas you travel in about 2h15 min. along a scenic road to San Bartolo.
From the village of San Bartolo you walk more or less horizontal in in half an hour towards the viewpoint over the Mausoleums of Revash. These mausoleums are located in a huge rocky mountain wall and consist of several small houses with pitched roof tops. Its polychrome walls are protecting figures of important and powerful persons from the Chachapoyas culture.
After Revash you wil vistit the interesting Museum of Leymebamba with lots of information about the several cultures that have lived in the Chachapoyas area.
The museum shows a great collection with more than 1000 objects, including 219 mummies which were partly found in Laguna de los Condors. The collection also includes old, ceramics, carvings and weapons.
After your visit to the museum we return to Chachapoyas around 6 pm.
