Be transported to the 16th century as you explore inside Shakespeare’s childhood home. Gain insight into the life he once lived as you wander through the half-timbered house.
William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright and is widely recognised as the world’s greatest writer. Born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon in the 16th century, Shakespeare’s childhood home still stands to this date as a museum and invites you to come and pay a visit.
Step inside Shakespeare’s family home and admire items from the Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust collection as you wander inside. It is assumed that Shakespeare was born in this very home in 1557 and spent his childhood here. In 1582, he married Anne Hathaway, and they continued to live in this home with his parents. Their 3 children were also born here, and this property was eventually passed down to their oldest daughter, Susanna.
Home to multiple generations of the Shakespeare family, Shakespeare’s Birthplace holds an immense amount of history within its walls. A visit to Stratford-upon-Avon is incomplete without exploring inside Shakespeare’s Birthplace!
