Floating Village and Sunset Boat Tour

On a trip from Siem Reap, visit a floating town on the shore of Tonle Sap Lake and discover a panorama of rice terraces, mangrove forests, and aquaculture. Then, you'll journey across Southeast Asia's biggest freshwater lake, where residences are erected on narrow stilts at the water's edge, and visit a floating hamlet with an expert guide.

We'll pick you up from your hotel in a Jeep at 1:30 p.m. and head south of Siem Reap through the picturesque Cambodian countryside. First, we stopped at a local family house surrounded by rice paddies. We sip on a cold coconut or local juice, meet the family, and learn about their farming life.

Your itinerary includes a local mushroom farm and factory to learn how mushrooms are grown using technical methods and a rice wine distillery. You also get to try local rice wine in Cambodia!

We will NEXT drive to a nearby river and shuttle through the floating villages, where friendly locals greet you with more smiles and enthusiastic waves. Here, you'll get a fascinating insight into how the local people live in this region. Tonle Sap lake is the largest lake in southeast Asia, and your local guide will EXPLAIN it in more detail and tell you about the phenomenon that creates a depth variance of up to eight meters. They will also tell you why this lake is vital to Cambodia's survival. You'll appreciate this new perspective of Cambodia and its environment as you cruise along the river.

To complete the evening, we will take a boat ride on the waterway with local delicacies, including soft drinks and other cold beverages, while enjoying a spectacular view of Tonle Sap at twilight. We can expect to arrive back in town around 7:00 p.m., depending on the seasons and the sunset time.
